Sun Lakes Democratic Club will hold the next meeting on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 N. Sun Lakes Blvd.
Please join us as we welcome PAUL PENZONE, former career Phoenix Police Officer and one of this year’s Democratic candidates for Maricopa County Sheriff.
Penzone served the people of Phoenix for 21 years, beginning as a patrol officer and rising through the ranks to manage the successful Silent Witness program that helped catch two serial killers. While a student at Phoenix Cortez High School, Paul volunteered at the Justice Courts as a constable, and then went on to study Criminal Justice at Glendale Community College and Northern Arizona University before joining the Phoenix Police Department in 1988. During his often decorated career at PPD, his management of the Silent Witness Program was recognized internationally when he was named Program Coordinator of the Year by Crime Stoppers International.
In his bid to be the Democratic candidate for Maricopa County Sheriff, Penzone has earned numerous endorsements including that of former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Paul Charlton, Phoenix Police Sergeants and Lieutenants Association, Arizona State Representative Ruben Gallego, former Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns executive Rich Dozer, and businessman and Democratic Party member Fred DuVal.
Since it’s election season, we may also have a surprise visit from another Democratic Candidate or two.
Please bring non-perishable food items for the Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank to the club meetings. Collections take place in the west parking lot from 6:30 p.m. to 7: 00 p.m. We also have a box at the North entrance of the Sun Lakes Cactus Corner lobby.
